Join the Tracking Team

This dashboard is built and kept current by a small volunteer team, and the work does not stop at launch, because the race keeps moving and someone has to keep checking the polling, the money, the new endorsements, and every claim on every candidate profile. If you want to help keep it accurate and keep it growing, there is room for you here, whether you can give one hour a week or twenty.

What the work looks like

Most of the work is small and steady rather than dramatic, because a living dashboard stays alive through people who read one source closely, translate one page, or fix one broken link at a time. We follow one candidate a day, refresh the polling every week and the money every two weeks, and read everything the community sends in, so there is always a piece of it that needs another set of hands, and none of it asks you to already be an expert.

Who we are looking for

You do not have to fit a category to be useful here, but if you are wondering where you would land, this is roughly how the work breaks down.

▸Developers. There is always a layout to fix, a page to make faster, or a small tool to build.
▸Designers. The site can always use more of the flat illustration work that gives it its face.
▸Researchers. Candidate records, debate transcripts, and campaign finance filings all need someone to read them closely and write down what they actually say.
▸Political folks. If you follow California politics, your sense of what matters and what is just spin is what keeps the editorial side honest.
▸Translators. The translation work never really ends, because every page has to land for the community in both languages and in a voice that sounds like us.
▸Everyone else. If none of those describe you but you still want in, tell us anyway, because there is real work in outreach, in events, and in keeping the network organized.

What we do with this

We use what you send only to reach out about volunteering. We do not share it, and we do not add you to any list without asking.

How we work with volunteers

There is no test and no long onboarding. You set your own hours, you tell us when life needs you to step back, and we treat this like what it is, which is people giving their time because they believe the community deserves information it can trust. We cannot pay anyone yet, and we are honest about that, so come in with open eyes and a good heart.
